Xavier Jefferson
Film Composer, Orchestrator, Bassist, Author
Thanks for visiting. I'm Xavier Jefferson, a film composer and orchestrator from sunny Southern California. My goal in doing both is to evoke healing human emotion through my art, and to help people connect to the greater parts of themselves while doing so. I'm open to approaching many genres such as orchestral, electronica, hip-hop, and others, but my first-love is for jazz.
Below are some of my tracks as both animated video shorts and SoundCloud links. I'm most especially proud of the ones nearest to the top.
Back In St. Louis (featuring Rahshad Muhammad - Jazz)
This short video beckons to a rich but troubled past in the Deep South from the early 20th century.
Central Avenue (Jazz)
This short video commemorates the Central Avenue jazz scene of Los Angeles in the 1950s.
Harlem's Triumph (Jazz)
Pulsing soul-jazz with roughly a ten-piece horn arrangement.
The Matrix, Re-scored (Electronic)
For this track I took the lobby scene in the Matrix and re-imagined how I would have done the music for this high-action scene.
The Grand Whoozit Theme (Orchestral)
A whimsical tune suitable for a Matt Groening or Tim Burton production.
Gritty Sunrise Raid (Electronic)
When I developed this track, I pictured watching a film like Black Hawk Down, one of the Jason Bourne movies, or something in the realm of Mission Impossible.
Driving Darkness (Rock)
The hero's triumph
Tortoise Walk (Orchestral)
I could picture this track in a Discovery Channel setting where we explore the lives of animals with a fun twist.
Saturday Jam (R&B)
Funky tune for a laid-back funky Saturday.
La Vida Chingada (Pop)
This is an entire funky track with a Latin Jazz feel.
Breaking News Intro in B-Flat (Orchestral)
This track would be most appropriate for a broadcast news type of scene.
The Wacky Waltz
This would be a fun track for a preschool childrens' show.
Final Rites (Orchestral w Vocal)
This might be appropriate for a sacred-sinister crime thriller.
